Hmpf. Normally I always comment 30sec after I saw your upload, but I needed to think about this one. This is really one of the best things you ever drew. Especially how you coloured her hair. It's magnificent! 
Also I really like the design: the bottom of the cape is very original, and the headphone is just genius. Really I cannot tell which part of the design I like the most (because I also love the gloves and her boots ;_

But I also understand why it didn't win. ALYS is a French vocaloid, so why a pink sakura themed design? Even though is pretty, it wouldn't make any sense at all. 

I don't know if you have time for it but maybe you can try to sell her as adoptable. A lot of UTAU users or people who collect vocaloid OC's would like to have such an awesome design.
Beside something like this (with a complicated design and detailed shading) can be easily sold for more then 50$.
